First, you need to see if you can bring a car your freshman year. If not, you can take a look at the inquiry as to how to get around the “no car policy” freshman year. As to whether or not you should bring a car, I would recommend against having one freshmen year. Without one, you can really get to explore the campus and all the activities and people it has to offer. A car just makes it more tempting to get off campus. Plus, lots of your friends will ask for rides. It’s true having a car does make everything a bit more convenient. But you can definitely get by with public or college transportation or meeting an upperclassman who has a car. Many friends I knew who brought cars their freshman year brought one because they live really close by and like to go back and forth. Some others brought one hoping to have more dates.
